Martin Vine
author : Martin VineA graphic designer by trade, Martin currently works as a Senior Designer for an in-house Design Studio providing marketing services for a global Health Care \u0026amp; Services Company.\n\nPrior to that, Martin worked mostly in magazine publishing. As the editor of Australian People magazine (2002-2007) Martin was privileged to screen feature-editorial submissions from external contributors on a weekly basis, a task that exposed him to a broad range of writing styles and taught him the value of being surrounded by professional sub-editors.\n\nHis confidence in writing enhanced through several years editing a national magazine, Martin soon realised there was nothing stopping him from penning the fantasy-adventure trilogy that had been simmering at back of mind for many years.\n\nThe Waking World trilogy was in the planning as far back as 2005, conceived first as a personal challenge based on a long-held philosophy of the author: that all people are inherently creative. This simple idea seeded an important question: like the cicada nymph buried dormant below ground, what if our creative potential awaits only the correct alignment of time and circumstance to emerge into light of day?\n\nWorking around the concept of awakening, Martin laid the foundation for the story as it evolved into Book I: Hopskotch and the Golden Cicada, the first draft of which was finalised in 2010.\n\nThe final chapter of The Waking World trilogy was written in late 2017, but it was not until April 2018 that finalised edits of all three books were made available (print \u0026amp; digital).\n\nMartin lives a quiet life in Sydney's leafy northern suburbs. Surrounded by his supportive family (human, canine, feline, and occasionally, avian), he continues to promote his trilogy via the official Hopskotch and the Golden Cicada blog, and his Twitter account.
